Welcome!

I've resisted for a long time. Strenuously, I've put my fingers in my ears and sung while the world developed exponentially around me.

But I cannot avoid the march of progress any longer - not without causing myself no small measure of literary long-term difficulty. I've had to bow to the inevitable and start a blog.

I should say here that I have never really felt welcome in the twenty-first century. It is certainly not the period of human history in which I feel most at home, which is troubling considering I'm not really able to escape it - except in writing, of course, which is one of the reasons I do it - and technology regularly stages mutinees to remind me of this.

That has been the principal reason for not writing a blog. The actual idea of writing freely, sharing thoughts (hopefully with a measure of articulation), receiving feedback on my work where my trembling hands will permit me to post it and all of the other benefits of blogging are very appealing. My reluctance has been that it would finally brand me a member of the current status quo, which I've never really been and doubt I ever will be, fully.

All the same, the pros outweight the sad indulgence, so here it is!

Stay posted for various updates and the like, as well as diarised accounts of whatever extremely exciting things I've been up to!

For example, up next is a preview of the written account of the two weeks I spent with around sixty other dedicated individuals working with Ariane Mnouchkine and the Theatre du Soleil at the Ecole Nomade in Oxford - and it's something of an exclusive.
